INTRODUCTION

This project involved the design and installation of a robust three-phase electrical distribution network for the Renewal Vineyard Church on Karen Road, Nairobi. The scope was extensive — requiring precise coordination to power a modern sanctuary environment, including high-density charging stations, intelligent multi-zone lighting systems, and specialized electrical infrastructure for the kids' and teens' facilities. SW Consultants' Kenya also served as project manager for the first phase, ensuring all foundational planning and infrastructure met the project's demanding operational standards from the ground up.

DESIGNING METHOD

Precision Electrical Design

The design phase was centred on scalability and user-centric functionality to serve a high-traffic, multi-use facility. Key design elements included: Load Distribution — utilizing a three-phase power supply to balance the electrical load across 90 twin-sockets, specifically selected to include USB and USB-C charging points for the convenience of members and staff. Zonal Lighting Control — creating distinct lighting zones for the main sanctuary and the kids' facility, managed through 7 central switches to provide flexible, scene-appropriate lighting levels for different services and events. Safety & Security Coverage — planning comprehensive indoor lighting with 21 × 5ft fixtures, complemented by outdoor security provisions including 4 solar floodlights and 6 high-intensity 300W floodlights for full perimeter and auxiliary container coverage.

SYSTEM INTEGRATION

Complex Multi-Zone Infrastructure Integration

The integration phase involved complex wiring, panel termination, and coordination across multiple facility zones. Key elements included: Main Distribution — installing the primary grid power drop board as the central hub of the entire electrical system, ensuring clean, reliable power distribution throughout the building. Sanctuary Media Infrastructure — running dedicated power and signal lines to 5 projector mount points, positioned and routed for optimal performance in the main sanctuary environment. Facility Expansion — extending three independent single-phase circuits to the teens' sanctuary containers and toilet facilities, giving each zone its own reliable, isolated power access. This modular design ensures that any future expansion or maintenance in one zone does not affect the others.
